# 📈 Stock Projection Report

The Stock Projection chart forecasts your future stock levels for one or more products, based on historical demand patterns. It helps you visualise when stock is expected to run out and plan replenishment before a shortage occurs.

> Stock Projection is available on Enterprise licences only, to users with the `Stock Projection Report` permission.

### 🧾 What is Stock Projection?

Stock Projection shows you how your current projected net stock is expected to change over a future period, based on your historical sales data.

You can choose from four forecast methods, ranging from a simple average to advanced time-series analysis. The chart overlays your forecast against the historical demand trend, giving you context for how the projection was derived.

### ⚙️ How It Works

#### Starting Point

Every projection starts from the product's Projected Net Stock - the same calculation used in the Stock Reorder Report:

**Projected Net Stock = Current Available + On PO Incoming - Committed Sales Orders**

The forecast then depletes this starting stock level at the projected daily demand rate over your chosen forecast period.

#### Forecast Methods

**Linear** - Calculates a straight-line depletion based on average daily sales. The simplest method, suitable for products with stable, consistent demand. Works with any amount of sales history.

**Weighted Moving Average** - Gives more weight to recent sales than older ones, making it more responsive to recent demand shifts. Useful for products with gradually trending demand. Works with any amount of sales history.

**Seasonal** - Applies monthly demand patterns observed in your sales history to adjust the forecast up or down by season. Suitable for products with predictable seasonal demand peaks. Requires at least 12 months of sales history.

**SSA (Singular Spectrum Analysis)** - An advanced time-series method that separates trend, seasonality, and noise in your data. Produces a central forecast line with 95% confidence bands showing the likely range of outcomes. Requires at least 60 days of sales history. Falls back to Linear if insufficient data is available.

#### Forecast Period

You can project over 30, 90, 180, or 365 days. The chart automatically includes enough historical demand data to provide context for the projection.

### 📊 Reading the Chart

The chart shows:

* **Historical line** - your stock trajectory reconstructed from sales history
* **Forecast line** - the projected stock level from today forward, shown as a dashed line
* **Today marker** - a vertical line indicating where history ends and the forecast begins
* **Confidence bands** (SSA only) - upper and lower bounds showing the 95% likely range for the forecast

You can compare multiple products on the same chart by adding more than one product to the selection. Each product uses a distinct colour.

### 📋 Projection Summary Table

Below the chart, a summary table shows key metrics per product:

* **SKU and Description** - the product being projected
* **Warehouse** - the warehouse in scope, or "All Warehouses" if aggregated
* **Current Stock** - the starting projected net stock
* **Avg Daily Sales** - the daily demand rate used in the projection
* **Projected Stockout** - the date when stock is expected to reach zero, or "None in range" if stock stays positive throughout the forecast period
* **Method** - which forecast method was applied

Rows are sorted by soonest projected stockout first.

### 🗓️Filters and Options

**Product Search** - Search for products by SKU or name. You can add multiple products to compare them on the same chart.

**Warehouse** - Filter to a specific warehouse. Non-Enterprise accounts see aggregated totals across all warehouses.

**Forecast Period** - Choose how far ahead to project: 30, 90, 180, or 365 days.

**Forecast Method** - Select the calculation method. A short description of each method and its data requirements is shown alongside the selection.

### 💡 Why Use Stock Projection?

Stock Projection is particularly useful for:

* Anticipating stockouts before they appear in the Stock Reorder Report
* Understanding the projected impact of current demand patterns over the next quarter or year
* Comparing two or more products side by side to prioritise replenishment decisions
* Using confidence bands (SSA) to understand the uncertainty range in your forecast
* Spotting seasonal demand peaks before they create a stock shortfall

### ✅ Summary

Stock Projection helps you:

* Visualise your expected stock trajectory over 30 to 365 days
* Choose the forecast method best suited to your product's demand pattern
* Identify projected stockout dates before they become a problem
* Compare multiple products in a single chart view

Use Stock Projection alongside the Stock Reorder Report to build a complete picture of your replenishment needs.
